About Prehensio GmbH

Prehensio GmbH develops AI software to program and power robotic hands in industrial robotic systems. We deliver customers an all-in-one solution, combining hardware and software in one deployment-ready system. Our technology addresses tasks that standard automation cannot fulfill, particularly in environments characterized by variation, force interaction, and uncertainty. These challenges occur frequently in real production settings, for example in machine tending, handling operations, and commissioning applications. The core of our work is the development of software for dexterous 5-finger robotic hands. By combining control, perception, and adaptive behavior, our software enables robotic systems to interact more robustly with complex physical processes and unstructured conditions found in industrial environments. We originate from Fraunhofer IPA research and spun off successfully in 2026. The company builds on applied research in robotics, automation, and human-like manipulation, with a focus on transferring research outcomes into deployable industrial systems. Today, Prehensio operates from IPAI Spaces Heilbronn, where we develop, test, and validate our software in close proximity to industrial partners. Our work is aimed at bridging the gap between laboratory-level robotic capabilities and the requirements of real factory operation. We collaborate with manufacturers, system integrators, and robotics OEMs to deploy adaptive, production-ready systems in scenarios where conventional automation approaches reach their limits.
