About Probingon AB
Probingon is a Swedish medtech company based in Uppsala, commercialising validated microwave and intrabody sensing technologies originating from the Microwaves in Medical Engineering Group (MMG) at Uppsala University's Ångström Laboratory. The company operates two commercial tracks. The primary track is FAT-IBC (Fat-tissue Intra-Body Communication), a wireless communication subsystem that uses subcutaneous fat tissue as a natural dielectric waveguide, enabling cable-free data transfer between distributed implants inside the body. FAT-IBC is licensed to OEM manufacturers of implantable medical devices, with spinal cord stimulation as the clinical beachhead. The second track is selective device development across the broader MMG sensing portfolio, covering microwave diagnostics and wearable monitoring applications. Both tracks draw on the same foundational science: how microwave signals interact with biological tissue. MMG advances technologies from early research through to TRL 4; Probingon takes over from TRL 5 and drives each technology through to commercial launch. Probingon is led by Co-Founder and CEO Mark Schneider and Founder and CTO Dr Robin Augustine (Associate Professor, MMG).
