Prophanos is a clinical stage company based in Seattle. Our ultimate goal is to significantly extend human healthspan and, ultimately, human lifespan. Our drug candidates have increased lifespan in a rotifer model of aging by 300% ,while increasing fecundity by 340%. These results propmted Dr. Terry Snell , Georgia Institute of Technology, to write: "Exposure of the bdelloid rotifer P. acuticornis to 20–30 micromolar of this antioxidant, extended lifespan up to 300%, perhaps a record life extension for any animal model without genetic manipulation.” Remarkably, specific bacteria in the human microbiome create Prophanos’ drug candidates, although only very small amounts of these can be found in the blood stream. Various pharmaceutical companies are trying to manipulate bacterial genes to increase the production of the molecules.
