About Sobell House Hospice

Sobell House Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to adults living in Oxfordshire with a life-limiting illness, and support to their family and friends. Founded in 1976, Sobell House was one of the UK’s earliest modern hospices to exist. Since opening our doors, our building, services, and team have expanded, but our mission to enrich the lives of our patients and those who love and care for them remains the same. We aim to ensure that excellent palliative and end-of-life care is available to everybody in our community who needs it. Every year, we care for over 4,000 people and their loved ones. Our expert team of staff and volunteers work closely with patients and their families to provide compassionate care that is tailored to people’s individual needs. We aim to improve people’s quality of life by making them as comfortable as possible, relieving their pain and symptoms, listening to their wishes, and treating them with dignity and respect. Our services support our patient’s medical care as well as their social, emotional, practical and spiritual needs. For example, we offer social work and chaplaincy support, music and art therapy sessions, onsite catering, a transport service, a companion service and more.
