The pattern never changes. The exciting thing arrives first. The essential thing arrives second. The essential thing always wins. We are in the earliest moments of the AI era. Code is being written by machines. Decisions made by models. Entire workflows running without human hands. The capability is arriving faster than anything before it. The essential thing underneath it has not been built yet. The ancient Finns understood this intuitively. The Kalevala tells the story of the Sampo, a mythical machine that produced endlessly on its own. But the story isn't about the machine. It's about who controlled it.
