About The Trading Tools

The Trading Tools (thetrading.tools) is a free, daily-updated market research platform: what the market is actually doing under the hood, measured in the open. Every trading day, an automated pipeline recomputes 60+ market tools — breadth, volatility, credit, options flow, short interest, sentiment, sector and global rotation — from our own database of ~5,500 US-listed symbols and primary sources: SEC EDGAR, FINRA, FRED, Cboe, OCC, the Federal Reserve. Around the tools sits a reference library: ~100 economic indicators, deep Manuals for the gauges people argue about (margin debt, the yield curve, CAPE), and a typed Concepts graph of canonical definitions. What makes us different is the register. We publish no buy/sell calls, no price targets, no stock picks. Every page answers two questions — what is the market doing right now, and what followed similar conditions historically — then hands the judgment back to the reader with the sample size attached. Every study is edge-tested before it ships; when a famous indicator turns out not to predict what its reputation claims, we publish that too. We're also built for the AI era of research. Our data is published simultaneously for humans and machines — structured entities, public APIs, and a paid MCP server that lets you talk to the full dataset through Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-capable assistant.
