Water keeps the North West moving. From morning brews to hospital wards, school runs to factory floors, it's an essential part of everyday life and the businesses that power our region. At United Utilities, we supply 1.8 billion litres of clean water to 8 million people across the North West, supporting around 3 million households and 200,000 businesses every day. We also take away and treat wastewater, helping to protect public health, support communities and care for the environment we all share. But our role goes beyond the services we provide. Behind every drop of water is a vast network that spans the North West. From 184 reservoirs and 57,000 hectares of catchment land to 575 wastewater treatment works and more than 42,000 km of water pipes, we're responsible for infrastructure that stretches from Cumbria to Cheshire and supports millions of people every day. As our region faces some of its biggest challenges, from population growth to increasingly extreme weather, we're helping build a water system that's ready for the future. That's why we're investing more than £13 billion over the next five years, the biggest investment in our network for more than a century. This includes our Big North West Upgrade, one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes, helping to modernise the network that millions of people rely on every day. Because this isn't just about infrastructure. It's about supporting communities, helping businesses thrive, protecting the environment and ensuring the North West has a resilient water system for generations to come.
