Verband Deutscher Tonmeister e.V.
the place for audio professionals
About Verband Deutscher Tonmeister e.V.
The association of sound engineers in Germany (VDT e.V.) has existed for 70 years. Today, we connect 2100 members, which makes us one of the oldest and also largest professional organisations in the audio industry. At its inception, almost all members were highly specialised, academically trained tonmeisters with a strong focus on classical instrumental and vocal music in recording and broadcast. Matching the rapid development pace of the audio industry, today our membership comes from a wide range of backgrounds, from self-taught practitioners over vocationally trained event audio specialists to bachelors, masters and ph.ds in audio engineering, acoustics and related fields. VDT colleagues span all age groups and work in music production, radio, cinema, tv, multimedia and theatre. We are particularly proud to support our many young members currently in vocational training, studying, or starting their professional careers, with a unique networking and knowledge platform. Many leading equipment manufacturers and research facilities are supporting us as sustaining members.
