“I’ve slowed down. I’ve reflected. I’ve worked on rebuilding my confidence, remembering who I am and reminding myself that sometimes it’s okay to stop, breathe and simply enjoy life.”

2wish provides immediate and ongoing support to families, individuals and professionals throughout Wales that have been affected by the sudden and traumatic death of a child or young adult aged 25 and under. 2wish was established in 2012 following the sudden death of Chief Executive Rhian Mannings' one year old son, George. With little to no support available and unable to cope with the loss, Rhian’s husband Paul tragically took his own life just 5 days later. Rhian started fundraising in memory of her two boys from her kitchen table. It quickly became apparent that there were other families who had experienced the same as Rhian following a sudden death. So, she set up 2wish in the hope that no other family in Wales would ever feel the same loss and lack of support that she had. We aim to: • Ensure every Emergency Department in Wales has a suitable bereavement suite for bereaved families. • Ensure that memory boxes are available for families at each of these hospital. • Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for suddenly bereaved families. • Provide a professional counselling service for suddenly bereaved families. • Provide support to individuals and professionals who witness the sudden and traumatic death of a child or young adult. • Provide staff support and training.
