About Arouet
Our mission is to empower individuals impacted by the justice system to lead successful lives and strengthen communities. Opportunity changes lives, strengthens families, and builds thriving communities. At Arouet, we partner with individuals, employers, and communities to remove barriers and create pathways to long-term economic mobility. It all began inside Perryville Prison in Goodyear, Arizona in 2004. Televerde, a Department of Corrections workforce development partner, began a reentry program called T.O.P.S. (Transforming our Possibilities) to help prepare incarcerated women for life after prison, implementing programs that emphasize education, job skills, and post-release work opportunities, without increasing the burden on government. Then in 2011, Arouet Foundation was formed to take over these activities to ensure we were reaching a broader group of women. Arouet Foundation has proven that recidivism can be substantially reduced by more than 75%, with programs that emphasize education, job skills, and post-release work opportunities. Arouet Foundation has a goal of putting more people to work, and thereby reducing the increasing taxes we all share.
