About BioökonomieREVIER
BioökonomieREVIER, initiated 2018 at Forschungszentrum Jülich, works to enable the transformation of the Rhineland through targeted innovation towards a circular, sustainable bioeconomy. Therefore, climate neutral and ressource efficient, biobased business models and novel value chains are initiated that contribute to the compensation of the consequences of lignite exit. The BioökonomieREVIER coordination office acts as subject-related, regional partner driving an innovation system built on regional strengths and aiming at the creation of new type of work. Together with multifaceted stakeholder regional approaches are being developed for a successful transformation becoming a model region for sustainable bioeconomy. Our mission: _facilitating knowledge transfer in business, education and society _advise and network companies and regional actors _support and accompany cities and municipalities _raising innovation potential for the green transformation _develop and implement transformation projects in partnership _informing the public Another part of the initiative is the “BioökonomieREVIER Innovation Cluster”, comprised of 14 so-called “innovation labs”. These are promising research approaches with very good economic implementation and cooperation possibilities within the fields of innovative agriculture, biotechnology, plastics technology and integrated biorefineries. Scientific institutes at RWTH Aachen University, FH Aachen – University of Applied Sciences, Forschungszentrum Jülich and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the local companies SenseUp Biotechnology GmbH and YNCORIS GmbH & Co.KG are engaged in both basic research and application. The BioökonomieREVIER Innovation Cluster is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the regular funding programme for regions affected by lignite exit.
