We drive and promote change in the systems that impact people experiencing homelessness. We believe that everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home. But right now, too many families in Washington are stuck in systems that don’t work. Rents are rising faster than wages. Benefits are hard to access and easy to lose. And the programs meant to help are often confusing, siloed, and out of reach. We’re working to change that—by focusing on what it takes to keep families housed in the first place, not just responding after they lose their homes. We bring people together to build better systems—ones that are more fair, more connected, and more focused on preventing homelessness before it starts. We support community-led ideas, test new approaches, and work with policymakers to change the rules that hold families back. We use data to show what’s working and explain why it matters. Our Vision: Communities thrive when people have safe and stable housing and can equitably access and use services. Our Mission: Building Changes advances equitable responses to homelessness in Washington State, with a focus on children, youth, and families and the systems that serve them.
