About Designability
The world is full of barriers for disabled people, because society isn’t designed with everyone in mind. For disabled people, those barriers can take away things that everyone deserves – freedom, confidence, opportunity. Opportunities like taking your child to the park by yourself, having the freedom as a 4 year old to choose what game to play next and the confidence to travel to see friends using public transport. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Not if we design and build differently. And that’s where we come in. Designability invents solutions that remove barriers disabled people face every day. It starts at our workbenches, with pencils in hand. It works because we listen to disabled people. We design with them. And it ends with practical ingenuity that transforms a part of someone’s life for the better. Products like our Accessible pushchair for wheelchair using parents, Wizzybug our flagship service providing free powered wheelchairs for young disabled children and design guidance on how public transport can be designed with accessibility for everyone. From prototypes to sketches, from problems to solutions, we engineer products that make the inaccessible accessible – and we help brands, other charities and designers to do the same.
