Donau Soja is an international, non-profit organisation based in Vienna. We promote a European, deforestation-free and non-GM protein supply. The Europe Soya Standard and its guidelines are the foundation of our work. The Donau Soja Organic Standard has been developed for organic soybean production. By investing in the cultivation of quality soya, we strengthen protein supply across Europe. The infrastructure this creates opens up real economic opportunities – across the entire value chain. Prominent European institutions and organisations back this initiative. Food retailers, large agricultural trade houses, the animal feed industry, oil mills and numerous processors, as well as environmental organisations such as Greenpeace, Global 2000 and WWF are all members and vital Donau Soja Association contributors. Many agricultural ministers across Europe have demonstrated their support by signing the Donau Soja Declaration, recognising the need to build a strong, independent European protein supply. Together with our partners, Donau Soja implements breeding and research projects for non-GM soya seeds and soya plant protection concepts. Coordinated from Austria, Donau Soja connects partners across Europe, creating new economic perspectives and contributing to a truly sustainable European protein supply. Consumers benefit from transparent, sustainable soya they can trust – and animal keepers from long-term security of supply. Europe Soya certified soya is European and non-GM. Soya farmers comply with EU plant protection regulations and EU (ILO) labour and social standards. Their land use is limited to fields already under agricultural cultivation prior to 1 January 2008 – and is therefore deforestation- and conversion-free.
