It’s always baffled me that in a multi-billion dollar market like private equity secondaries, so much of the negotiation is based on a number that’s already 3 months out…

About Equisect
Equisect prices any private-equity fund or secondary — a real, named fund already in our database, or any position you enter or upload yourself, no ticker required. Every fair price is grounded in our own proprietary warehouse, built and maintained entirely in-house — not a licensed third-party database, not a synthetic peer basket. Raw PE data is notoriously messy — inconsistent reporting, restatements, survivorship gaps — so we start from over 2,500 distinct funds spanning vintages back to 1976 and clean every one of them before a model ever sees it: correcting restatements, matching each fund's history against itself point-in-time. What survives is over 1,100 named funds and over 40,000 clean quarterly cashflow observations — a warehouse we trust because we know exactly what didn't make the cut, and why. On top of that warehouse, we've built our own proprietary models — not off-the-shelf peer benchmarking. Every model is validated the way a quant fund validates a trading strategy before risking real capital: Probability of Backtest Overfitting and the Deflated Sharpe Ratio, via combinatorial purged cross-validation. The industry-standard age-curve model fails its own test. Ours don't — and we publish the verdict next to every price, not just the number. That data and those models power three ways to get a price: a single-snapshot lookup for a quick, three-model read; a portfolio upload for funds with their own cashflow history, including alpha versus public markets via KS-PME and Direct Alpha; and a warehouse lookup for named funds already in our database. Every result ships with a calibrated range, not a false-precision point estimate. We built Equisect for secondary buyers, LPs, and anyone who needs a defensible, auditable number for an illiquid PE position — without paying advisory fees for a black box. Proprietary data. Proprietary models. No black box.
