Innovative Genomics Institute published a study highlighting its work on using red seaweed and microbiome editing to reduce methane emissions from frow cows, led by Ermias Kebreab and Matthias Hess at the University of California, Davis.

The Innovative Genomics Institute is a joint effort between four of California’s leading scientific research institutions, UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, UC Davis, and UC San Diego, with affiliates at UCLA, UC Riverside, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Gladstone Institutes, and other institutions. Founded in 2015 by Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna, the IGI’s diverse group of leading scientists are developing the next generation of genome engineering tools to treat human diseases, end hunger, and create a sustainable future. In addition to our scientific efforts, the IGI is committed to advancing public understanding of genome engineering, providing resources for the broader community, and guiding the ethical use of these technologies.
