About Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management
Founded in 1875 the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) at the Technical University of Munich is one of the largest research institutions for production technology in Germany. It compasses three chairs at the TUM School of Engineering and Design in Garching near Munich. The chairs, the Chair for Industrial Management and Assembly Technologies, the Chair for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology as well as the Chair for Production Technology and Energy Storage Systems define the research content and the thematic focuses of the iwb. These lie in the areas of battery production, additive manufacturing, machine tools, assembly technologies and robotics, sustainable technology, laser technology, as well as in the field of production management and logistics. The staff at the iwb work in research, teaching, and industrial transfer in these fields.
