About Leadership Centre County

We are the region’s premier community leadership development organization. LEADERSHIP graduates are better informed about issues, practiced at fruitful discourse, and inspired by provocative ideas and solutions - they are prepared to lead. We boast 974 alumni, representing 100% of local municipalities and 438 different employers throughout Centre County and nearby counties. We inspire community service. This past year, LEADERSHIP alumni volunteered over 130,500 hours, serving over 650 nonprofits, and totaling over $3.5 million dollars of human capital invested in our communities. Our flagship program, the Community Leadership Program, trains class members to work collaboratively for the good of the whole community through a 10-month exploration of local socioeconomic issues aimed to increase civic engagement in Centre County. Through a succession of 11 program days, held once a month throughout the program year, class participants in the Community Leadership Program are exposed to the various aspects of the community to include history, health and human services, governance, economy, environment, education, and the arts. In addition, there is the opportunity to cultivate communication skills and dialogue with community leaders. Our Transformational Leader Series workshops are affordable, timely, and open to the public. Attendees find an environment for networking, sharing, benchmarking, brainstorming, and learning. Community members have the opportunity to explore and examine issues facing their community and shape future workshop offerings. In this series of one-off workshops, lectures, and seminars, community leaders seeking to expand their nonprofits’ reach and efficacy can explore topics in four areas of nonprofit effectiveness and sustainability: adaptability, leadership, management, and technical capacities. We engage remarkable, diverse participants and content experts to bring a perspective to local issues.
