Micregen is a UK biotechnology company developing Secretomix®, a cell-free therapeutic platform built from what stem cells release rather than the cells themselves. One biology, two frontiers: a lead clinical programme in a devastating disease of prematurity, and a characterised platform acting on four of the recognised hallmarks of ageing. The same failures recur across a range of degenerative diseases: chronic inflammation, impaired cellular quality control and reduced regenerative capacity. In a premature baby these processes can destroy the intestine within days; in adults, the same convergence degrades tissue over decades. Secretomix® is designed to act on those shared mechanisms. Our lead candidate, MRG1061, is in development for Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC) — an intestinal emergency of prematurity that kills up to half the infants who develop severe disease and for which there is no approved drug treatment. In preclinical models at third-party academic centres, MRG1061 produced a statistically significant reduction in lesion severity. Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia is our near-term second indication. Independent characterisation identified 566 microRNA species and 1,907 proteins across 140 enriched biological pathways. In preclinical work that cargo reduced inflammatory signalling, halved stress-induced cellular senescence, restored stem cell niche markers and restored impaired autophagy towards control levels. The programme holds an Innovation Passport under the MHRA's Innovative Licensing and Access Pathway. GMP master and working cell banks are manufactured, 21 in-process-control and release assays developed, and over four years of stability data completed. The intellectual property is owned outright. The longevity applications of the platform are held separately under Anageria™ and available now to a dedicated partner. Secretomix® and MRG1061 are investigational and have not been approved for clinical use. Enquiries: barrysharples@micregen.com
