In our latest blog post, inspired by a Leadership Story Talks conversation with Jim O'Gorman of Included Health and a debrief with Julienne B. Ryan, we explore how storytelling can turn values from abstract statements into behaviors people recognize, remember—and repeat.

In the late 1990’s, Murray Nossel, Ph.D., a co-founder of Narativ, faced an impossible challenge. As a trained psychologist, how was he to counsel his patients with AIDS for whom, at that point in the crisis, death was imminent? Dispensing with his training, he began to listen to their stories. More than anything, with days or weeks left to live, they wanted to leave something of themselves behind. In this terrible crucible, the Narativ method of listening and telling was born. With now 20 years of experience in the use of storytelling to advance the social and cultural dimension of an organization, we find the stories that contain knowledge and catalyze change. We create leadership development programs that deepen employee engagement from day one, improving role-clarity, cultural assimilation and a sense of belonging. Our storytelling coaching and workshops train executives in core skills that allow them to lead with genuine personal engagement and a dash of boldness.
