About NEWESD 101 (NorthEast Washington Educational Service District 101)

NEWESD 101 is a public entity established by the State of Washington to provide cooperative services to 59 public school districts and 45 state-approved private schools (grades PK-12) and four charter schools in the state's northeastern region. NEWESD 101 serves schools enrolling more than 93,000 students in Adams, Ferry, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens and Whitman counties. It is one of nine ESDs in the state. The organization is largely self-supporting, drawing 97 percent of its revenue from competitive grants and fees for service rather than direct state appropriation.
