Most nonprofit founders did not start their organizations to run a business. They started them because their community needed something the existing systems were not providing. Then the work grew. Funders showed up. Staff came on. The board got formed. And somewhere in that growth, the founder became the only person who could keep the whole thing moving. I know that pattern because I am living it. I'm Mark Gaskins. For the last 12 years I've been Co-Founder and CEO of The Village Method, a community-based education organization serving youth and families across the SF Bay Area and Atlanta Metro. I run the operation end to end. I am also building ScholarPrep Nation, our high school to workforce readiness platform, and developing programming nationwide. For the last twenty years, my focus has been on education, youth development, and community development. Before founding The Village Method, I spent fifteen years in enterprise sales and organizational development at Paychex, Oracle, SAP, and EdTech start-ups, supporting C-suite leaders at Fortune 500 and enterprise organizations in building their HR infrastructure. I led global implementation teams and built partnerships with colleges, universities, and school district leaders. I founded Nonprofit GPS to serve the kind of nonprofit leader I have been for the last 12 years. Founders carrying too much, with vision and trust and community relationships, who need operational infrastructure to make the work durable. I serve as a Fractional Chief Operating Officer for founder-led nonprofits, typically $250K to $2M in annual revenue. The work spans strategic planning, funder research and grant writing, logic model and theory of change development, case statement creation, board governance, and the systems that let a founder delegate without losing standards. The promise is simple. Restoration, not rescue. The vision, the relationships, and the trust are already yours. My job is to build the scaffolding so they hold.
