Settlement Housing Fund creates, preserves, and sustains high-quality affordable housing that revitalizes neighborhoods and enables residents to thrive. We serve vulnerable, low- and moderate-income households, helping them achieve long-term stability and well-being. Based in New York City, our innovative model integrates affordable housing, social services, community programs, and neighborhood resources to build vibrant and inclusive communities where residents strengthen resilience and pursue opportunities for economic mobility. Our programs include housing development, asset management, resident engagement services, and leasing and compliance. Through strategic property stewardship, mission-driven development, and resident-centered programming and services, we help create stable, vibrant communities where individuals and families can enhance their quality of life while remaining connected to the neighborhoods they call home. Since 1969, SHF has developed more than 9,000 affordable apartments across 70 development projects and oversees 50 properties with 3,147 apartments serving approximately 11,000 residents in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Approximately 20% of the units we develop are set aside for formerly homeless households, supporting some of the city’s most vulnerable residents to access permanent housing.
