The West Midlands Cyber Cluster, homed at the West Midlands Cyber Hub, is the strategic and coordinating structure behind growing cyber capability and resilience across the entire region. AKA The cyber cluster for the West Midlands. Built by cyber practitioners, for cyber practitioners, the cluster supports the growth of local and regional cyber skills, helping organisations turn that into customers, investment, employment opportunities, and scalable cyber businesses. With the cluster, over the next five years, we will: 🟣 Strengthen the regional investment community coordination by building strong connections across the wider funding landscape, so that promising companies do not simply fade into the background. 🟣 Establish a meaningful CISO and senior leaders group to set direction, articulate genuine customer and operational problems, identify areas of unmet demand, support emerging companies, and influence the development of regional capability. 🟣 Highlight cyber opportunities (education, skills, and jobs) to both students and those new to cyber, giving them practical exposure to the profession, and creating routes that lead to employment. 🟣 Build an entrepreneurship programme to support practitioners and those technically-minded in making the difficult transition from idea, to growing a viable cyber business. 🟣 Ongoing lifecycle support for SMEs by providing access to the required expertise and investment to eventually become the larger regional cyber businesses that are conspicuously missing from the current data. The West Midlands is the heart of the UK’s industrial capacity with a distinct national role in securing industrial Britain. We want to demonstrate to the rest of the UK why the cyber scene in the West Mids deserves its place on the map.
