About West Side Chamber of Commerce Indianapolis
The West Side Chamber of Commerce was founded in early 2010 by a small group of concerned business and government leaders who recognized the values of the West Side of Indianapolis. We recognized the advantages of our service area which we quickly defined as Decatur, Pike, Wayne Townships and eastern Hendricks County. As any community we have critical issues that will affect our future as businesses and residents. The West Side Chamber of Commerce provides a business and community voice to address those issues. We are collaborative, creating affiliations with several other area organizations that will benefit our community. Mission: "The mission of the West Side Chamber of Commerce is to promote vibrant, sustainable economic development and strengthen the quality of life in our community by: - Attracting, retaining, and connecting businesses, - Advocating pro-business public policies, and - Assisting businesses in actively engaging in the community.β To accomplish this mission, the West Side Chamber of Commerce shall adhere to these guidelines: 2 1. Advocate for business and community prosperity by promoting economic programs designed to strengthen and enhance the financial opportunities for all businesses located on the West Side 2. Serve as an effective non-partisan, non-sectarian advocate for business on legislative, business, social, educational, regulatory, governmental and community issues affecting the West Side. 3. Identify and overcome issues detrimental to the business climate and community growth. 4. Support civic, social, educational and cultural programs designed to increase the functional and aesthetic values of the community. 501(c)6 Not-For-Profit IRS Designation The West Side Chamber of Commerce is a 501 (c)6 not-for-profit designation as a "business alliance." This designation provides our membership with tax benefits and provides the Chamber the option of providing communications with elected officials as issues might require.
