For more than 100 years, Austin Water has provided safe, reliable, high-quality and affordable water services to our customers. Today, we serve more than 1 million people across 544 square miles in the Austin metropolitan area. Austin Water’s mission is to provide water for people and care for the environment, and this commitment shapes everything we do. Our integrated water resource plan, Water Forward, outlines a strategy to keep our community prepared for the next 100 years, accounting for the demands of population growth, drought and climate change scenarios. Our Wildland Conservation Division manages more than 49,000 acres of public land, protecting endangered species and safeguarding the quality of our source water. In 2025, Austin Water was inducted into the Leading Utilities of the World, a global network of outstanding water and wastewater utilities — reflecting the daily care and dedication of more than 1,400 employees across our facilities and in the field.
