About The SMEP Programme
The Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP) programme has been established by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under the Research Science and Technology Division. The programme is implemented in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The programme brochure provides a snapshot. https://smepprogramme.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/SMEP-factsheet_23.05.24.pdf The Programme generates evidence and to improve existing knowledge on the environmental health and socio-economic impacts of selected manufacturing sectors across target countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Through a series of staggered grant funding calls, the programme is piloting technology-based solutions to address the most pressing environmental health issues associated with manufacturing in focus countries. By investing in viable business processes Programme promotes sustained and wider uptake of identified pollution control solutions. The SMEP Project Management Agent comprises a consortium bringing together colleagues from @PegasysConsulting and @SouthSouthNorth.
