Most youth who leave the juvenile justice system end up back in it — the national recidivism rate is around 70%. For youth in One Heart Project programs in Texas, it's 12%. The difference isn't a program. It's a person. Every year, 1.3 million teens are arrested in the U.S., and more than 100,000 are housed in correctional facilities. Most never get a second chance.
